News From David and Judy

We are really here in Ebeye, Marshall Islands. We have started our classes and it is a little different teaching through an interpreter. We are teaching on prophecy while Opal is teaching another class, then each night the people switch classrooms. The church services here are in Marshallese. But while we don’t understand the language, the singing is universal. The choir sings so beautiful, and when the whole congregation joins in, it is like surround sound of island harmony. We thank everyone for your prayers.

Greetings from the Marshall Islands

We have started classes and it is so good to see the different faces we are familiar with showing up. It is very warm and humid here as we are near the equator. We have two classes going and God is blessing. Almost all of our students are being prepared for full time ministry, so we are crying out to God that we might put in them those things that will equip them for their task. There are many islands that do not have churches, and the vision is to get someone there with the Word of God.

Everyone is getting ready for the conference in July. Pastors and their people will be coming from Texas, Arkansas, from Honolulu and Maui, from Majuro, the capital island of the Marshalls, from Guam and other islands of the South Pacific. I am looking forward to meeting these people, and hearing what God is doing in these places. My heart’s desire is to know if they are ready for Shiloh Bible Training Center.

The youth group is large and very active. This week, they are doing a fundraiser to feed the people coming to the conference. The boys took the boat and went fishing and the girls cooked the fish. That decided what we would have for dinner. Activity on the new church has accelerated as they are hoping to be completed by the conference. We are praying favor for them to get the materials needed to finish. Pray for the conference, that the presence of God will be present with us, and that we will be led by God in the rest of our time here. Also, pray for the favor of God in finding a place to live im Honolulu. Thank you for your prayers and your letters. They are very encouraging. God bless you!

Until next time,
Sister Opal Moore

Honolulu, Hawaii - another island. God has blessed my life and ministry with islands. I am met at the airport by Pastor John Edwin and taken to his home. God bless this family - they have recently lost their wife and mother - but they welcomed me into their home and I was speaker in their church.

This week, we started the Bible School here - Shiloh Bible Training Center is growing, and I am very proud of the leaders it is providing all over. A recent letter from Pastor Mao in Tagaytay, Philippines says that our students are pastoring churches all over and Pastor Mao is building his church and school facility at this time. Pray for them and also Pastor Simeli in Fiji. We are growing there and God is moving.

The church here in Honolulu is two years old and mostly Marshalese. We will start Sunday School classes soon. The teachers are attending training classes with Child Evangelism. The Bible School is small but steady and longing to learn. God is blessing us.

Recently, a dear lady former missionary called and asked if we could use some things - books, tape recorder, projector, and other equipment she and her husband had used in missions. I felt as if God had been listening to my conversation with Pastor John Edwin, for I had mentioned these very things she had and wanted to send. God bless Norma! Pray for the work as it is growing and we need gifted helpers!

At the moment, Pastor John and Pastor Hone are planning for the annual conference in July, which will take place in Ebeye. At this time, all the affiliated churches in the outer islands and in the US will gather together on this tiny little island and what a time it will be! We are planning to return to Ebeye the second week of June and resume classes for the 40-50 students who will be there.

We are in the process of selling our home in North Idaho and will re-locate to Honolulu to be near both Bible Schools and expand our ministry with the Marshalese. We appreciate your prayers. My daughters and son-in-law are preparing to join me in this mission and we would appreciate your prayers as we prepare for this move, purchase necessary ministry tools and equipment and find a mission home in Honolulu.

Isaiah 49:1-3 - “Listen to me O isles and coastlands and hearken you peoples from afar. The Lord has called me from the womb; from the body of my mother He has named my name and He has made my mouth like a sharp sword in the shadow of His hand has He hid me and made me a polished arrow. In His quiver has He concealed me. The Lord said to me, You are my servant Israel (you who strive with God and with men and prevail) in whom I will be glorified.”

I stand looking out of the office window at the children playing in the streets and the sweet sounds of the worship team practicing in the sanctuary downstairs. “I need Thee” - a familiar hymn but a new language - Marshalese. Yes, I am really here after two years trying. I am here and God is showing Himself strong in our behalf. The class is underway with forty students. I am enjoying our times together and I can tell they are too. These students are going to be pastors and leaders across the many islands that make up Marshall Islands.

One day, Pastor Hone and his wife and I and some of the young men from the church took a boat out to a nearby isle. As we walked around, Pastor suggested this was a good site to put the Bible College on. I learned there were sixty people in all living there, but the church house was falling down. I thought “Sixty people sit here on this island and never hear the word of God?” Pastor asked one of the men about the church and he said, “I will repair it, and I said, “We will prepare you a pastor to preach in it,” and a smile came on his face. Many such places are waiting for someone to come to them to catch the vision of hungry people.

School will begin the first week in June. My class is a mixture of men and women, husbands and wives, young men, and they are very enthusiastic. One night after a rain storm, there was no power, no lights, no fans. But every student was in place, waiting. I taught with a flashlight until the generators turned on our lights. No one went home. God is here and it is so magnificent to behold His working. But it is time to go and I feel sad. I have made so many friends. I’m glad it is temporary and I’ll be back soon. We go by boat from Ebeye to Kwajdleine where I’ll get the plane.
