Losing A Son
Almost a month has passed since I returned to the States from the Philippines. I’ve been to the doctor, my medicine has been changed, my thyroid levels have been stabilized. Although my health is good, a lot has happened in the three weeks I’ve been in the U.S.
My son, Mark, who orginally had been scheduled for back surgery in May, was able to get an earlier date for surgery. So, I felt that my coming home had a double purpose because I had assured him I would be with him for the surgery. The surgery was to be a serious one, beause he has suffered for three years with intense back pain. Last week, my daughter Judy and I traveled to Loma Linda Hospital in Riverside, CA. I prayed with him before he went in to surgery. God said He heard our prayers and He would answer them. We spent time guarding him with prayer and waited to see the results. The surgery went real well….the doctors were pleased and Mark was released from the hospital last Wednesday, just two days after surgery because of his progress.
But last Saturday, Mark went home to be with the Lord. A blood clot triggered an apparent heart attack and he went quickly. I was on a plane flying to Spokane when my daughter reached me with the news. God in His grace and mercy surrounded me with believers on that plane and they comforted me with their prayers.
I am now here in Boron with the family and preparing for a Memorial Service this coming Thursday at 11 a.m. Pray for the family, especially Mark’s family.
