Storm Devastates Pastor’s Farm

April 6th, 2007

Greetings from Fiji! It is a bright sunshiny day today, but we have just passed through some tropical storms that have left a lot of devastation in their paths. Here in Nadi, it was mainly flooding. But in Labasa, many of our people have suffered great losses. One of our pastors, a cane farmer, was hart hit. Part of his new house blew away, with his family asleep in the other side. All of his ducks, chickens and goats were drowned. The cane fields which were ready for harvest, are still under water and lost.

Ordinarily, the government would help in such a time as this, but as many of you know, this country is under a military coup at this time, so no one knows what to expect. I know a lot of you reading this are praying people. We are asking your prayers on behalf of Pastor Sam and his family, as well as the dear ones in Heart Village, a short distance from Labasa. We were able to help some with finances, but we also have come under the attack of the enemy. We had an accident in our new vehicle, which was partially due to the heavy rains washing huge potholes in the highway. Nadi Town has been under water twice now, and the water damage is severe. If God lays it on your heart to help any of these, rest assured, anything you give will go as directed by you. By the time you receive this post, I will be in the U.S., a little early because of the accident. Both my legs were badly bruised. I also desire your prayers!

The work here is going well. God is spreading us out. The two schools are going well and our students are maturing in the Lord. Our students in Sigatoka, which is our largest class, never miss a class. Our pastor there, (one of our students) is also doing well. Although he is diabetic and has high pressure, he is doing better than before and taking his meds regularly. But please, keep him also in your prayers.
